On this day
… 1997 – 3Com Corporation and U. S Robotics Corporation finalized their merger. 3Com paid U.S Robotics $6.6 billion which merged these two computer-industry giants in the area of networking.

….2003 – AOL released an alpha version ICQ Lite that would connect AIM and ICQ users allowing for exchange of instant messages (IM) between the two networks. AOL purchased ICQ in 1998.
